How far in advance should you book a grazing table?
Book a grazing box at least 24 hours ahead and a grazing table at least 5 days ahead. Those are Platter and Co's minimums in Melbourne, so book as early as you can, especially for weddings, Christmas and other popular dates, which can fill up.
A longer lead time gives you more choice of date, time and style, and gives us time to plan any dietary needs. Here is how notice, deposits and busy dates work, and what to have ready before you enquire.
How much notice does a grazing box need?
At least 24 hours. You can order up to 90 days ahead, so there is no need to wait. Boxes are delivered in one-hour slots between 9am and 3pm, or you can pick up for free from 238 Flinders Street.
Wondering about tomorrow? It depends on what time you send your request, because the 24 hours counts from then. If you need a box sooner, call or text 0481 974 842.
How much notice does a grazing table need?
At least 5 days, and that is the minimum. Tables are set up at your venue by our team, and need more notice than a box. Our grazing box vs grazing table guide explains the differences.
For a wedding, book as early as you can, once you have your date and venue.
How do the deposit and balance work?
For a table, you send the enquiry form and we reply within 24 hours to say whether your date is free. If it is, we send an invoice. There is no online payment.
- A 50% non-refundable deposit confirms your table booking.
- The balance is due 72 hours before the event, or the booking may be cancelled.
- For a box, we reply with a price, then confirm your order and arrange payment.
- To cancel a box order due Tuesday to Friday, we ask for 24 hours' notice. For a Saturday, Sunday or Monday order, cancel by 2pm on the Friday before. Orders are non-refundable, but we are happy to issue a credit to use another time. Our refund and cancellation policy has the detail.
Which dates should I book earlier?
The minimums are the same for every date, but popular dates can fill up. Treat these as sensible advice to book early, not a promise about availability.
- Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 3 November 2026. It is a public holiday in metropolitan Melbourne, so an office Cup lunch is easier on a working day before it, such as Monday 2 November. See Melbourne Cup catering.
- Christmas and end-of-year. Office lunches, family get-togethers and catch-ups with friends all happen at the end of the year, so it is best to book early. See Christmas and end-of-year grazing.
- Mother's Day, Sunday 9 May 2027. Order well ahead, and we will confirm availability for the Sunday. Please don't treat a Sunday slot as guaranteed until we have confirmed it. See Mother's Day grazing boxes.
- Weekends in spring and summer. Many weddings and parties are held then, so book as soon as you have a date. See wedding grazing tables.
What should I have ready when I enquire?
You don't need everything settled, but these details let us check your date and put a quote together. The enquiry form asks for most of them.
- Your date and start time, and how long the food will be out.
- Your venue, or the delivery suburb for a box.
- Guest numbers, with adults and children counted separately.
- Dietary needs and any allergies.
- The style you have in mind: savoury, sweet, fruit, brunch or kids. You can pick more than one.
- Any add-ons, such as canapés, sandwiches or wraps, or hired stone, dishes or silverware. If you want hot food, the venue needs a fully functioning kitchen.
What if I need something at the last minute?
Call or text 0481 974 842 and tell us your date, time and guest numbers. For a box, we will tell you what is possible inside the 24 hours. If your table date is closer than 5 days, call and we will tell you what is possible.
