Melbourne Cup catering and grazing platters
Melbourne Cup Day is Tuesday 3 November 2026, a public holiday in metropolitan Melbourne. Whether you're planning an office Cup lunch, a party at home or a sweep with something good to eat, Platter and Co makes grazing boxes, grazing tables and canapés in our kitchen at 238 Flinders Street in the Melbourne CBD.
Grazing platters suit a Cup day because guests can help themselves before, during and after the race. Here is what suits each kind of day, with our real prices so you can plan.
Office Melbourne Cup lunches
Because Cup Day is a public holiday, plan an office Cup lunch for a working day before it, such as Monday 2 November. A grazing table or canapés keep things easy for a whole office, and our team sets up at your venue up to 2 hours before you start.
- Savoury grazing table: $500 for a 0.5 m table (up to 15 guests), $850 for 1 m (up to 35) or $1,250 for 2 m (up to 55).
- Sweet grazing table: $400 for 0.5 m (up to 15 guests) or $750 for 1 m (up to 35).
- Canapés: from $3.50 a piece (minimum 30), such as sausage rolls, party pies, pastizzi and arancini. Chicken skewers are $4.00 each and lamb koftas $6.50 each.
- Sandwiches (48 triangles) at $125 or wraps (24) at $170, added to a table order. See the grazing table add-ons.
Melbourne Cup parties at home
Hosting on the day? Grazing boxes are the easy way to feed a small crowd. Order early and we'll confirm your date when we call, because Cup Day is a public holiday.
Boxes are delivered in a one-hour slot between 9am and 3pm. Delivery fees depend on your suburb (see our delivery areas), and pick-up from 238 Flinders Street is free.
- Savoury grazing box: medium $100 (up to 4) or large $165 (up to 6), with cheeses, cured meats, sourdough and crackers. Contents change with the season.
- Sweet grazing box (small): $75, for something sweet on the side.
- Brunch grazing box: $99 for 2 to 4, for an earlier start to the day.
- A bigger party? A small savoury grazing table starts at $500 for up to 15 guests.
Sweeps and nibbles at work
Running a Cup sweep? Keep the food simple so people can graze between drawing names and watching the race. A few ideas:
- Fresh fruit skewers at $4 each and fresh fruit juices at $6.
- One-person grazing cones at $25 each.
- A fruit grazing table from $300 for up to 20 guests, next to a savoury table.
- For a small team, a large savoury grazing box feeds up to 6 for $165.
How far ahead to order
Boxes need at least 24 hours' notice and tables at least 5 days'. Those are minimums, and popular dates can fill up, so book as early as you can.
For boxes, you place an order request online and we call or email to confirm it and arrange payment. For tables, send the enquiry form below and we'll be in touch within 24 hours. A 50% non-refundable deposit books your date, and the balance is due 72 hours before your event.
We can cater for gluten free, dairy free, nut free, vegan and vegetarian needs on request, so mention them when you order or enquire. Need something sooner? Call or text 0481 974 842.
